To our entire community: employees, families and suppliers.

As has been the experience of all associates and participants in our service programs, SER de Puerto Rico's commitment is to protect the health and well-being of our entire community, especially those living with disabilities. As part of the organizational culture and health protocols of our Institution, we maintain rigorous infection control and environmental health measures. In response to this pandemic caused by COVID 19, we have intensified our security and infection control measures which comply with the license we have from the Department of Health and with the accreditation of CARF (Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities).

Although exempt from the Executive Order in order to promote and care for the health of everyone in SER, they were promoted to stay at home, as a rigorous containment measure to prevent spread. That is why we have chosen to adopt various modalities such as tele-rehabilitation, in line with CARF quality standards – and relevant distance support efforts, which have allowed us to continue offering exceptional services to our participants with physical disabilities and autism during this emergency. . That is and will be our consistent commitment, even in emergency situations, such as those our Island has faced in recent years.

Over the past 70 years, we have characterized ourselves by offering innovative alternatives for rehabilitation services for the benefit of our country. We are the only pediatric rehabilitation center and some of the conditions we treat are degenerative and/or that, if not received direct attention, can quickly regress the acquired abilities. Our services provide special attention to those participants who, due to economic scarcity, would not have access to high-tech equipment such as those that exist in the main rehabilitation centers in the world. Robotic therapies such as Lokomat, Armeo, Hunova and others are some of the key pieces of equipment that have allowed children, young people and adults to advance in their rehabilitation process and maximize their potential for functionality and independence. These treatments require that they be provided directly and in person. It is precisely because of these interventions that we are preparing to begin receiving our participants in the Centers in a planned and staggered manner, taking into consideration the recommendations of agencies such as the Department of Health, OSHA and the CDC. New access rules will be applied to optimize everyone's safety.

As believers in inclusion in all sectors, we promote the consideration of all points of view in decision-making, reaffirming that only together and in unity of purpose will we achieve a better Puerto Rico for all. Our actions have weighed the ideas and recommendations of the clinical and specialized team that makes up the great family of SER of Puerto Rico. We maintain hope and illusion in the blessings that await us with the favor of God and that allow us to continue creating solutions that change lives.
