75 Years of Being Puerto Rican: A Story of Impact, Inclusion, and Hope
SER DE PUERTO RICO celebrates 75 years of uninterrupted work, marking a milestone in the history of rehabilitation and services for people with disabilities on the island. What began as a pioneering initiative in 1950 is now a leading organization with a comprehensive, humane, and transformative vision.

Democratizing rehabilitation using technology as a bridge
During Rehabilitation Month, we spoke with Dr. Ricardo Ayala Jiménez, the first pediatric physiatrist to work full-time at our San Juan center. Although his path to physical therapy first led him to study engineering, his entire education has served to make him passionate about his profession and a champion of the idea that, through technology, we can bridge the service gap, democratize rehabilitation, and improve the quality of life for many children and their families.

Puerto Rico's SER trains police cadets to work with people with autism
In an effort to improve the quality of life and safety of people with autism and their families, approximately 550 Puerto Rico Police Bureau (PRPB) cadets received specialized training from the Puerto Rico SER team. This workshop aims to equip officers to respond appropriately in emergency situations involving individuals diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder (ASD).
OUR
IMPACT
Since the beginning of the Community Outreach Programs (2014), SER de PR has offered services in 78% of the municipalities of Puerto Rico, even visiting some of the municipalities more than once.
